Beardmore Park needs you!!!!

It has been almost six months now since the community handover of Beardmore Park in Westmuir Street/Hart Street. During that time there has been a few organised activities such as ‘Myths and Legends’ performed by children through East End Community Arts and a Family Fun day held by Playbusters.

Over the past few weeks three local primary schools have been working with some of the older residents in looking at the history of this site and are preparing information boards for the park. This has been a lot of fun and has been very interesting for everyone involved and we look forward to seeing the end result. There are also plans afoot to light up the steam hammer which is a focal point of the park.

The park itself has so much potential for use for groups to carry out activities and over the summer there will be activities provided by Play Services - so keep a lookout for this- details will also be posted on Playbusters website.

Playbusters are organising a Fun Day around sports for young people on Friday 21st July and this will include items such as a climbing wall, football skills and traditional games.

The ‘Friends of the Beardmore Park’ are a group of residents and members of community groups who meet regularly to look at the sustainability of the park through helping to organise events for various groups. We would encourage all ages to become involved from toddler groups to elderly groups. Also, Friends of Beardmore are looking for other volunteers to become members of the group. If you would like to become involved please contact Playbusters on 0141 551 6050.
